In For One Man’s Honor, we again see New York City and its criminal justice system through the eyes of criminal defense lawyer, Jake Carney. Still in recovery from his days of alcoholic drinking, Jake remains the insightful, at times cynical and usually humorous character from the Broken Lawyer series. Back with Jake are his friend and investigator, Tommy Shoo and his long-time girl-friend Gracie Delaney, aided by a cast of new characters.
In this new story, Jake’s friend, New York City Detective Richie Simone, is accused of murdering a Chinatown madam, and Jake pulls out all stops to prove his friend’s innocence. He soon discovers Simone is being framed by a corrupt police official aided by a notorious Chinese gangster. Unsure of whom to trust, Jake and Tommy Shoo, work to uncover and the expose the truth about the murder. But proving Simone’s innocence is more difficult and dangerous than Jake expected.
Matters become more complicated when Jake must take on a challenging drug case, and save a young single mother from a long prison term. Together Tommy and Jake formulate a plan to save their client and put an infamous drug dealer out of business. But success comes with a high price causing Jake to question his actions.
" Love the main character, attorney Jake Carney's sense of humor. I am always waiting for one of his sharp comments. He takes us around Manhattan, the City that he loves and draws us into his character, his flaws and his outlook on life. He is not perfect and knows that his struggles are daily but tries to do the right thing. I have just begun reading this book and already cannot put it down. I love that I can read this on my Kindle app so that I don't have to turn a light on at night and can pick it up at any time. He is trying to unravel and prove the innocence of his friend in this book."
" My second book by L'Abbate will not be the last! The lawyer being a flawed recovering alcoholic, who's ego doesn't make the grand appearance an hour before his body. Makes you want to join him in the courtroom and a pushcart lunch! "
" Very exciting, hard to put down. The story continues the legal and police drama which has been very well researched and I highly recommend it."
