This time around Jake finds himself in an unusual situation when two past clients return.
After receiving a call from the Innocent Inmate Program Jake worries he may have sent an innocent man to prison twenty-one years ago. When he learns he is not being targeted for any wrongdoing Jake decides to join the Innocent Inmate Program team in a challenging legal battle to free his former client. He soon realizes that re-investigating a crime that happened nearly a quarter of a century earlier is even more difficult than it sounds.
Then there is Penny, a client Jake represented four year earlier on a minor drug charge. Then Penny was an innocent kid, a runaway from an affluent family. But this time around Penny is a full-blown addict facing a felony drug charge that could put her behind bars for thirty or more years. Remembering the Penny he knew when he first met her, Jake wants desperately to save her. When Penny reveals she has evidence that could result in a dismissal of the charges Jake questions if that is in her best interest. Faced with an ethical dilemma Jake follows his conscience and finds himself on a path that could lead to personal disaster.

"Definitely read this if you like the unexpected in your reading. A real page Turner and up to the usual high standard of story writing you expect from this author. "

"Having discovered L’Abbate and his wonderful story telling ability I ha very read six of seven books, in Kindle, buying number 5 in paper back. Great character development but even better great stories. I recommend reading each and everyone starting with number one. The author donates all proceeds from his books to three worthwhile charities. Even more of a reason to read them. Sadly the life of Penny in this story is not unusual but tragic."
